ARTHUR MILLER

Arthur Miller (October 17, 1915 - February 10, 2005) was an American playwright. His best known plays are All My Sons, Death of a Salesman and The Crucible. He also wrote for the movie The Misfits while he was married to Marilyn Monroe. She acted in this movie. Marilyn died one year after their divorce.

Arthur Miller's family was a rich family from New York. During the Great Depression in the 1930s, the family lost all their money. Because Miller wanted to go to university, he had to work in a warehouse. He studied economics and history at the University of Michigan, and also learnt how to write plays.

THE CRUCIBLE

In this play, Miller wrote about the ideas of fear and false accusations. Many people were afraid of communism.

The Cold War was the tense relationship between the United States and the Ussr during 46 years period following the World War II's end, but before the end of the USSR.

William Shakespeare was born on April 23, 1564, in Stratford-upon-Avon and died on April 23, 1616.
In November 1582, Shakespeare married Anne Hathaway. When they married, he was eighteen and she was 26. They had three children. Soon he became famous as playwright.
shakespeare wrote over 40 works, including poems, "lost" plays and collaborations, in a career spanning nearly 25 years. He wrote comedies, tragedies and histories. William wrote Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet, Macbeth, Othello...
He is buried in Holy Trinity Church in Stratford.

THE GLOBE THEATRE 

The Gible Theatre was built in 1599 by Shakespeare's playing company called The Lord Chamberlain's Men. It was destroyed by fire on June 29, 1613.
